Osceola County is one of the fastest growing counties in the country – and – it has some of the worst commute times to go along with that. Polk County is not far behind – with its population growing by more than a third in the last decade or so. Straddling both counties is the Poinciana community – home to more than 70,000 people – and growing.
With growth comes traffic congestion. Traveling around the Poinciana community is a real challenge – and its expected to get worse.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is working in coordination and in partnership with Osceola and Polk County leaders on solutions. Collectively, they are taking into consideration projects underway on many local roads now and additional transportation improvements in the future.
CFX’s goal is to Move Poinciana with enhancements to local infrastructure alongside the Southport Connector Expressway, which is a proposed 15-mile expressway connecting Poinciana Parkway with Florida’s Turnpike.
It will take big solutions with input from the community to fix this big challenge. Together we can find the best solution for everyone.
On this webpage you can learn about the project, schedule a community presentation, find out about public meetings, leave a comment or take a survey to add your voice to the conversation – and more.
