Project Overview
CFX is proposing the Southport Connector Expressway as part of a broader, regional solution to help Move Poinciana. With the area’s fast and continuing growth, the proposed expressway would make it easier to get where you need to go – including accessing major roads like Interstate 4 and Florida’s Turnpike. The Southport Connector Expressway would even help those who don’t use it – by taking traffic off Cypress Parkway.
CFX is investing in the Poinciana community – seeking solutions via the Southport Connector Expressway that could benefit everyone. The proposed improvements being evaluated could help relieve traffic tie-ups along Cypress Parkway – and more:
- Moving Poinciana: Elevated expressway in the middle of Cypress Parkway would let commuters and others making longer trips get to their destinations more quickly. That also would mean less traffic on the local road.
- Elevated Options: CFX is looking at building the elevated expressway on fill dirt with retaining walls; on bridge structures, which would maintain more open, community views; or a combination of both.
- Enhancing Safety: 5 miles of Cypress Parkway would be improved for pedestrians and motorists alike. The project would include a multi-use trail, improvements to eight (8) intersections and other upgrades – enhancing safety for everyone.
- Easier Local Travel: Cypress Parkway will be widened to six lanes, making travel easier for everyone.
- Community-minded Project: CFX would invest in landscaping and other possible amenities for the community.
